How do you do?

Bureau Roffa is a delightfully small type foundry, run by me, Jasper de Waard. I have always been fascinated by things that go unnoticed, yet are plain to see, making typography a natural candidate to my curiosity. I was twelve when I published my first typeface at MyFonts, and I’ve not been able to let go ever since. Shortly after an internship at the amazing Dalton Maag, I founded Bureau Roffa.

My fascination with type coincides with a fascination for perception, which has led me on an entirely different path. I am currently a PhD student at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, at the department of Cognitive Psychology. I do experimental research to help uncover how humans learn what to ignore and what to attend to in a visual environment.
